10 Women In History Who Pretended To Be Men
Throughout history, the discrepancies between men and women have always been clear. Whether things were different in the workplace or at home, it's only recently that women have been able to carry out the same career and education roles that men have been able to partake in for years without facing negativity. And while this might have prevented many women throughout history from pursuing the direction they wished their life would take for fear of ridicule or breaking the law, not all women accepted their societal fate. In fact, the women in this video all decided to simply cover up their identities by taking on the persona of a man. This was done so that they could live lives that they wouldn't have been able to live otherwise. And while it took a lot of hard work and determination, these people were prepared to fake it as men so that they could achieve their dreams. You might be thinking that it’s easy to fool your colleagues and distant friends into thinking you're the opposite gender. Surely it's as easy as cutting off your hair, binding your chest, and putting on a gruff voice, right? In fact, if you wanted to do so nowadays, you could even use special effects makeup to ensure a foolproof look. But some of these women were changing their appearance as early as back in the fifth century, when there was little to experiment with. Somehow, they still managed to fool everyone. One of them even kept up the act for so long that they spent their entire life fooling their wife and adopted children. Now that's true dedication to the cause! Make sure to check out this video to hear all about the brave women who did what they had to do to break the societal chains that were holding them back.
